BEER: FACTS IN SOUTH AFRICA

Jan Van Riebeeck who established the Cape of Good Hope in 1652 stated on 4 October 1658, only six years later, that"The Ensign brewed the first beer" (Bolsman, E. Bartending in SA,p.85). There were two taverns at the time "corrupting" the folk of Van Riebeeck's fort. Bolsman mentions that beer originated some 6 000 years ago in Mesopotamia while Noah also took beer on the Ark. Today the Bavarian Beer Festival in Germany is the most well known to serious beer drinkers. The term "Beer" covers all generic nomenclature of malt beverages, including lager, ale and stout (Ibid.)

GOOD BEER JOKE
My friends and I were on a Lager run and noticed that the cases were
discounted 10%. Since it was a big party, we bought 2 cases. The cashier
multiplied 2 times 10% and gave us a 20% discount.... *
