MY CANADIAN TRIP: 2009

During a previous visit to universities in Canada, I was introduced to some state of the art on-line education systems that our Central University of Technology, Free State (CUT) could also use in Open and Distance E-learning (ODEL) especially in the Northern Cape Province with its vast distances. Subsequently we invited experts such as Stephen Downs and Rory MacGreal to visit our in house conferences and moderated post doctoral studies on this subject matter. In my intended visit we hope to finalise research of online conflict management methodologies not only for the Northern Cape where our peacekeeping soldiers are trained, but for the whole of southern Africa. The aim is to construct an on-line civic education system both for Adult Basic Education, primary and secondary learners as well as students at universities who really need to become politically literate. In my next blog, I hope to publish some more about the b book publication of the Commonwealth of Learning (COL) in Vancouver.
