Dear Diane

Thank you for your interest in my Blog. Yes, if you scroll around on the Blog, you will see the grave you are searching for. (I am using my Blog for a variety of uploads etc., but you will see the index on the side for specific information about the De Beers) It is next to the Free State Boarder and very near the town on the other side of the river, Christiana. The De Beers are still living on the adjacent farms. The farm with the grave of N De Beer belongs to somebody else, however, access is very open via Dirk De Beer who's two sons own the rest of the surrounding farms.

Please contact me when you want to visit the grave next year on my e-mail address: kbeer@cut.ac.za

Enjoy the festival season.

Karel (Kallie)

Hi Karel

My husband found your details on your blog while researching details of the De Beer family.

My mother was the daughter of Cornelius Johannes De Beer who according to family sources was a son or grandson of Nicholaas Johannes De Beer. We have been searching for many years to establish where Nicholaas was buried, but have been stonewalled by many so-called “sources” of genealogy.

My grandfather, Cornelius Johannes De Beer, was married to Margaret Delaney. He fought in the Boer War in the Marico Kommando and I have his service medal.

They had three children, Jeunnesse, Lorraine and Cecilia (my mother). Jeunnesse married John Muller and they had five children, Margaret, Alida, Freek, Johnnie (deceased) and Neels. Lorraine married Irene and they had three children, Eric (the only living direct descendent of the “De Beers” on our side of the family), Eleanor and Janet. My mother married Ken Johnston and they had two children, Ivor (deceased) and myself. I am married to Ivor Stack and we live in Boksburg, Gauteng.

We would love to make contact with someone else from the De Beer clan and we would like to visit the grave in 2011. Our contact numbers are:

011 917 8058 (home), 079 932 8390 (Diane) and 082 900 8071 (Ivor).

Regards
Diane
