DIAMOND MINE FORSALE; SOUTH AFRICA

De Beers Consolidated MINES (DBCM) intends to sell the JAGERSFONTEIN - Diamond mine in the southern Free State, most probably to an empowered group. This mine produced some of the biggest diamonds in the world, however, the mine dumps may be washed with modern technology for profitable smaller diamonds that may still be hiding in the old mine dumps. The JAGERSFONTEIN -Diamond mine was opened in 1870 and 13 million tons of soil was worked through for an average of 12,8 carat per tonnage. In 1893 the second biggest diamond in the world was mined, namely the EXCELSIOR. Another diamond, the JUBILEE of 650 carat was cut and polished from this mine into a 245 carat format. In may 1967, the EARTH STAR was found and converted into a 111carat precious stone (Cf. VOLKSBLAD, 23 March 2010).
