NG CHURCH ARCHIVE: FAURESMITH



Though this little "museum" type of building in Fauresmith displays some historic photographs, the register, however, in which the names of my baptized DE BEER-family is preserved, is kept in the Archives of the Free State NG Church in St Andrew Street, Bloemfontein. It is said that those registers were were the most meticulously up dated and preserved documents in South Africa. Unfortunately, the modern trend is not to marry nor to baptize the children necessarily in a church denomination which keeps registers etc. Church archives may become distinct as in the case of the old graves in church yards...
