CAREL DE BEER'S WAR GRAVE AT MAGERSFONTEIN

This tombstone of Boer soldiers who died on the battlefield at Magersfontein near Kimberley, is to be found in a monument site for all those who lost their lives against the British forces. However, the notorious Gen Koos De La Rey actually led his burghers into a victorious battle and conquered the Scottish regiments. The name spelled Carel since changed in some family routs to "Karel" spelled with a "K".
