Karel de Beer

Only a few words to let my readers know that my new e-mail address has changed to kareldebeer40@gmail.com because my former address (kbeer@cut.ac.za) has been closed down. Fortunately my new gmail-account makes it more convenient to use as a freelance political literacy consultant without compromising my former employer. In the world of open education resources and open access, political literacy issues are, however, still considered as a kind of a potential threat to the more "closed" systems and people of our society. In contrast to the non enlightened, the modern trend is currently growing at a revolutionary rate to open up knowledge and information! The current "Arab Spring" initiated a new open knowledge society also to those were previously marginalized or deprived by authoritarians...Still, some of the 'old regimes' of the Arab world and some African dictators have not realized the power of open electronic communication... The Russians coined the phrase long ago that: "Influence is stronger than government" ! Blat silnee savnorkoma (sic).
