MORE BEER HUMOUR

A guy left his glass of beer on the bar counter to go quickly to the toilet and left a note: “Don’t drink, I spit in it”. When he returned, another note was added, “I too”…

The cowboy came into the bar, rolling his guns and asked who painted his horse white?
Some gun slingers put down their beer glasses and replied: “We did”
The cowboy immediately continued: ”I only wanted to let you know that the first coat is now dry enough for the final one!”

BEER JOKES

Many replies to my DE Beer blog are from beer drinkers. Some very funny and original, however, some may have been submitted under the influence...Fortunately humour is part of our family life. Especially my mother who can see humour nearly in every event or happening.

RESEARCH AT THE BRITISH MUSEUM LIBRARY A MUST

There is so much to be done and experienced in London, however, for a researcher in contemporary history, a number of hiatuses are bridged into the past with all the information at the British Museum. I nearly spent four days at the museum and still could not get enough of it. Ancient history meets with modern technology to guide one through the thousends of interesting exhibitions which adds up to a phenomenal experience...With no entrance fee, this is an example per excellence for Open Education Resources (OER). Community educational projects in South Africa also take
children to museums while I also tried my level best to get my own children (and now grand children) interested in the huge treasures of knowledge at museums.

A SHORT WHILE TO REST IN SCOTLAND

During my research visit to Ireland, a research colleague at the Queens University of Belfast, Lynn Kirken, suggested that I stay a few days over in Port Patrick on my way to London via ferry and coach. What struck me were the simular sounding words, names and other nomenclature that are to be found on the West coast of England are likewise to that on the West coast of Ireland, e.g. Gall Way Bay and Galloway Bay etc. Celtic diversity in the Irish as well as the Scottish history. Gaelic Welsh pronounciation and enunciation to the untrained ear of this Boertjie confused me totally. I thought I could understand English with my Free State English lessons, however, was at a lost with my Afrikaans accent too! After all, I enjoyed my little time of rest in Port Patrick as well as the museum in Stranraer where the famous John Ross maritime personality's exhibition is certainly a highlight. The harbour where I arrived by the fastest ferry in the world is about to be converted into a waterfront business complex. A very busy port indeed with all the down loading of hundreds of big trucks and thousands of tourists traveling by car from Europe and Ireland.
